What We are Doing
Partnering with other local churches (Waymart Church, White Mills Community Church, Faith Baptist Fellowship Church) and others) to collect requested items to send down to the areas most affected by Helene.
Our Connection to the Cause
The organizer of this particular regional collection was the first worship leader of Wallenpaupack Church and he remains a respected member of our community. Here's a testimony from a regular attender:
"I know the guy who is leading this very well, and would encourage anyone that wants to help in the hurricane but isn't sure how to contact Bob or visit their Facebook post and see how you can help. He's a stand up guy, solid Christian and they will use all donations to directly benefit those affected by the hurricane."
Prayer Requests
Our contact for the collection, Bob Burns, has human resources on the ground in the disaster area. She has shared two pressing prayer needs:
When This is Happening
Trucks will go down the weekend of October 12th so we need all items dropped off to Wallenpaupack Church before Saturday. Specifically, the church will accept donations these times when we have staff or volunteers in the building: Please do not drop off any items outside the designated times.

- For children who are coming out of the woods, wondering where their parents are (and for parents wondering the same)
- Increased suicide rates in the region are "skyrocketing" and death totals appear to be higher than what is shared publicly

An Important Reminder
At times like this it can be easy to ask, "Why?" or question God's goodness. Those are natural reactions from living in a broken world. Even Jesus asked, "My God, why have you foresaken me?" (Matthew 26:46) while He was on the cross. That means we have a God who understands what we and they are going through. All of it. God doesn't promise a strife-free life, but He does promise to be with us in it. We are not alone.
