This training hub was created for those called to lead—especially in the Acts 12:24 Churches Conference of the Free Methodist Church—but who may not have the time or means for seminary. We call it Upper Room not just for the space of learning (the mind), but because we believe Spirit-empowered churches are born through prayer...
​in the Upper Room, just like in Acts 1–2. All courses were developed in partnership with the Free Methodist Center for Pastoral Formation and are designed to meet the ordination requirements for the Free Methodist Church.

Hybrid learning options, integrating online coursework with traditional in-person gatherings, are being planned for 2026. For now, all coursework is 100% self-paced, online. 

A portion of all registration fees will be donated to the Church Development Network (CDN) to help support their mission of relentlessly pursuing obedient disciples.

Meet your instructor

Rev. Helen Kelly

Helen Kelly is the Pastor of Discipleship at Wallenpaupack Church in Pennsylvania. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and World Religions, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Christian Ministry. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Ministry Leadership at Liberty University.

Helen is passionate about teaching, making complex ideas easy to understand, and helping others grow closer to Jesus in whatever God has called them to do. She also serves as a trainer with the Church Development Network (CDN), supporting their mission of relentlessly pursuing obedient disciples through church multiplication.

A wife of over 15 years and mom of three, Helen loves opening her home to guests and creating space—both in life and in learning—for people to grow. If you register for one of her classes, she looks forward to walking alongside you during this exciting season of discernment and development.
