Opportunities to Serve

There are many ways in which to serve God and His kingdom.  We encourage you to consider what may be a good fit and contact us below for more information on how to get started.  Most people serve once a month, but there is no obligation. We can work with you based on your availability.  Want to try something new...don't worry, we will show you what to do!

Here are the ways you can make people feel welcome during service:

Indoor/Outdoor Greeters

Provide a warm, sincere greeting to all who enter through our doors. Be knowledgeable of the building, able to assist, and direct new guests.

Usher
Help throughout the service  in the assistance of finding seats, guiding the flow of communion, taking headcounts, and tidying the seats before service.

Welcome Bar Attendant
Provide assistance at and around the Welcome Bar, especially to new guests.  Hand out Welcome Bags and make connections between guests and any additional points of contact.

Hospitality
Do you have the gift of hospitality?  This is a great area to serve.  You're welcome to bring a snack or serve what we have on hand, prepare coffee, then welcome our guests with a smile!

Lisa land Brian would love to talk to you about serving in any of the below positions during our Sunday services!
Here are the ways you can serve on the Tech Team:

Sound Board

Not sure how to run the sound board?  No problem, just like all of our other tasks, it's very simple and we are happy to teach you. You will be trained to provide technical aid to the on-stage team by adjusting microphones and music volumes.

Slides
This is another area that like sound...is misunderstood.  There is no prior experience needed. The program is fairly simple, and we can train you on it in a matter of minutes.  Come in and run the slides during service.  No need to input, all the material is on the computer waiting for you!

worship team

Meet Mike! He's our Pastor of Next-Gen Ministries here at Wallenpaupack Church and organizes all the logistics, including volunteer placement, for our WallyKids programming.

Our WallyKids are the next generation of the church. It is not a babysitting service, rather a ministry that teaches our children about the love of Jesus through time in the Bible, relationship building and a ton of fun! We would love to have you join our team! Here are the current positions you can serve in:

Greeter
Welcome families, print name tags and interact with our WallyKids while you walk them to their classrooms.

Leader
Greet our WallyKids as they are brought to the classroom, play games, worship and lead them through our pre-prepared lesson. Connect with WallyKids by sharing the love of Jesus and how it can apply to their lives.

Leaders Assistant
Not ready to fully lead a classroom? Step in and help the Leader with tasks to connect and help grow our WallyKids.

Youth

Schedule: Tuesday Nights from 6:00pm-8:30pm
Picture
Meet Mike, again! As our Pastor of Next-Gen Ministries he also organizes the volunteer efforts which support our older youth and teens. He's a busy guy!

We love the next generation here at Wallenpaupack Church! Our Youth Group is a vital ministry as we shape the next generation by sharing the gospel, discipling and loving on our teenagers by building relationships with them.

Here are the ways you can serve with Youth Group:

Leader
Connect with teenagers and young adults to lead them to Jesus and help understand the Bible in everyday circumstances. Lead them in games, fellowship, prayer and lessons that apply to their lives.

Leader’s Assistant
Assist the leader with small groups and developing relationships with the next generation. Join teenagers in a time of fellowship and fun where they come alive and open up to share what they are going through.

small jobs crew

Schedule: as you are available to do small jobs at the property with the option to participate in occasionally scheduled work days/nights
Picture
Scott is one of our board members and is also the guy behind many of the projects around the church's property. He's currently working on a playground outside & a place for teens in the basement, & can always use a hand around here! (his lovely wife, Jenn, is pictured above as one of the Welcome Team leaders)
The Small Jobs Crew assists with general maintenance projects and repairs, outdoor yard cleanup, painting, minor structural repairs, raking leaves, trimming shrubbery, etc.  No experience?  There are plenty of tasks needed with no experience necessary.

Grow Groups

Group locations & times are determined by the facilitator and host.  Off-site locations can include homes, places of work, or anywhere else conducive to meeting weekly with up to 12 folks in a quiet setting with video capabilities.

Meet Helen! As Pastor of Discipleship Ministries she will be the one who coordinates all things small groups, from curriculum to participant sign ups to leadership assignments and leadership development. Below are the ways you can serve within grow groups!
Here's are the ways you can serve in grow groups:

Leader/Facilitator

If you feel led to facilitate a grow group, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss that with you!

Although pastoral staff choose group content, we are also open to working in the study that you may have on your heart to share.  Let's talk!
All group leaders receive an initial training & pastoral staff provide ongoing assistance as needed.  You won't have to fend for yourself & you don't need to have all the answers! We are here to help :)

Apprentice
Do you have teaching and/or leadership gifts, but not quite ready to lead a group of your own yet? Let us pair you with a leader who can share responsibilities with you and act as your guide.  We will also provide our leadership development materials and get you ready to lead a group in a coming semester!

Host/Hostess
Have the gift of hospitality but not up to leading? No problem!  We will try to pair you with a facilitator.

partnership mentor

Schedule: as decided with your mentor
Picture
Meet Cissie! As our interim office manager she's the one who will match mentors with future partners. It's just one of the many hats she wears!
If you are a current partner at Wallenpaupack Church you can be considered to mentor someone else into partnership.  Would you like to be kept on a list for us to choose from when we are pairing up new Partnership Training Participants? If we think we can match you to someone we will be in contact with you first!
sign me up as a mentor!

Outreach/ Events

Picture
We told you this guy does a lot around here! Aside from works with our kids and youth as Pastor of Next-Gen Ministries, Mike is also our Outreach Coordinator. Lot's of different ways to get involved with varying levels of commitment!
Our outreach events touch so many families, and we would love for you to be able to help us at these events, such as, Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk or Treat, Noon Years Eve, and so many more.  Here's some ways you can help:

Planner
Review previous event and evaluate what can be done to grow and reach more families in the community. Also set goals for new events and help get the word out.

Facilitator
Help check in, setup, tear down and be with the families during the event. Lead children to where they need to be and be the light to so many in the community.
